The 2011 Rugby World Cup In New Zealand.

The 2011 Rugby World Cup kicks off on Friday 9th September with the pool A game between New Zealand All Blacks and Tonga in Auckland, New Zealand.

New Zealand Rugby

The tournament is expected to draw a large oversea contingent of supporters that may exceed the available accommodation resources in some areas. It will be necessary to secure your match tickets  to the team you are following, and book your accomodation early to avoid travelling from out of town accomodation to the match venues. Another important consideration is obtaining a visitor entry permit to New Zealand, as this will be a requirement for many travellers.(see link tab above)

New Zealand has a large fleet of camper vans and RV’s, as it is a popular tourist destination for it’s stunning scenery and outdoor attractions. These campers will be popular with many travellers as it allows flexibilty with travelling around to different venues to view games, and to cross on the Cook Straight ferries between Islands. This option would suit followers of the Scotland, Argentina, England, Georgia, Australia, Italy, Ireland, USA and Russia teams, as these pool B and C countries play their pool matches in both the North and South Islands.

Campervan Touring In New Zealand

For travellers preferring to fly between the North and South Islands there is one main airline that services the domestic airports at each of the world cup venues, and bookings can be made here. The domestic airports have rental car and camper hire available, as well as taxi services and shuttle buses to get you to your destination.

Many Australian supporters are looking at flying in and out on game days from Australia, as there are daily return flights to the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch RWC venues from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia. If this is an option you may consider during the tournament, or after it has finished, you can book accomodation here, and get your visa application information here. A benefit of doing this, is that places such as the Gold Coast have a mild, sunny Septemeber climate of 20-25 deg C, unlike the New Zealand weather which can unpredictable.

The 2011 RWC will see lots of exciting rugby action at each of the venues, and it will also give travellers the opportunity to experience New Zealand diverse ethnic population, sites and attractions. Click on the above North and South Island tabs at the top of the page to discover more about each 2011 RWC venue, and what to do while you are there.

Be sure you turn up in the latest RWC team gear for your country by visiting the Rugby World Store.
